A Summons

A Summons

The sun has set
The stars shine bright
Where are you
This sacred night

Hear my call
Hear my cry
From this mountain on which I stand
To speak a name
Heard only on the wind

Can you hear
Will you come
The lantern is lit
In the heart of the night

Outward sign
Of inner truth
Light the flame within
And be whole
Once again

Aphrodite’s curse

There she stands
A Goddess in white
Or red or black
This one can barely say
A spark flys
From root to heart to sky
A connection is made
A future glimpsed
As through a glass darkened
Hazy, ephemeral,
Seething in the night
A wind blows
And everything is changed
For she who stands in the morning light
No longer is She of the previous night
Still a goddess in her own right
Not the Goddess that’s sought
Capricious Aphrodite has moved on
Leaving he who seeks her
A mess to clean up
Before the quest resumes
Down the road that goes
Ever, ever on.
