Walking

I walk the path
Anticipating the crossroads
Where fellow travelers meet
If only for a short time
I feel the call to another life
To share the way with another soul
Instead I journey on
Sometimes walking forward
Sometimes retracing steps tread long ago
Wondering, wandering what it all means
Am I big
Or am I little
Do I see the vastness of space and time
Or does the ego tempt with false illusions
That life is understood

Words

A cry from the mountaintop
A cry in the wind
Lost in the swirling maelstrom
Lost to the dark night
Words in a certain form might move the world
But only if they are heard
Worlds might change with a few phrases
More often than not
They lay on I the ground unheeded

Speak to me
Listen to me
Talk to me
Hear me
Dialog with me
Acknowledge what I say

Trapped?

Trapped in the world

Of a shared reality
One to which too many succumb
One from which only a few fly free.
Illusions of freedom
Seduce the mind
Appeasing the immediate
Till distracted we forget
And accept what is
Yet the soul knows
And aches for the sky
To soar among the clouds
Harken to the longing within
Be free, and fly
Or die

Too many endings

There are too many endings it seems to me
Endings without new beginnings
Companions who wait at the Rainbow Bridge
Friends and family
Some taken too quickly
Others a mercy at the end
Relationships too
Ended or evolved
Still an ending
Of a path through the storm
When comes the season
Where all things become new
When the renewal
When the rebirth
That sets all things to right
Still some endings to come
Before that rebirth
Cast off the chains
Unfetter the soul
Let go of what’s not useful
Hold on to what is
Tears there will be
For endings are hard
No soft landings ahead
